Austrian contractor Strabag has won three road deals worth €170m from Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
The work, which will be carried out by Strabag’s Polish subsidiaries, include two design-and-build contracts on the S19 north of Warsaw, also called Via Carpatia, for €73m and €43m. The works are scheduled to be completed by April 2021.
The third package, worth €54m, is on the S61 in southern Poland, also known as the Via Baltica. This comprises the construction of two carriageways, two rest stops, one bypass and 16 bridges. This contract is scheduled for completion at the end of 2020.
Thomas Birtel, Strabag’s chief executive, said: "Poland is our third most important market. We celebrated our 30th anniversary there this year."
Earlier this year, Strabag won a contract to complete a high-rise in Krakow that has been standing unfinished since 1979.
