Turner & Townsend has been appointed to provide cost management for a surf park in Perth, Australia.

The A$100m park situated on a 5.7-hectare site in Jandakot is planned as the biggest surf park in the Southern Hemisphere, its developer Aventuur says.

It will feature a 2.2ha next-generation Wavegarden ‘Cove’ surfing lagoon, hotel, retail, fitness centre, surfing school and other amenities.

Turner & Townsend said the complexity and scale of this project would require the expertise of its Perth and Melbourne offices.

Construction is due to start in early 2023 and the park is scheduled to open to the public for summer 2024-25. It is expected to create around 260 jobs during construction, and around 65 full time equivalent employees when operational.

Turner & Townsend director Simon Monaghan said: “Our experienced teams will use our knowledge of comparable projects to ensure robust cost benchmarking from the earliest stages, identifying areas for improvement at every step of the process and achieving value for money and affordability on this exciting new project for Perth and for Western Australia.”
