Vinci buys Peruvian toll-road concession for $1.6bn

Vinci Highways has signed an agreement with Brazilian group Invepar to acquire Lamsac, the concessionaire-holder of the Línea Amarilla (Yellow Line) toll road in the centre of Lima.

The deal, which includes Pex, Lamsac’s electronic toll collection operator, is worth $1.6bn.

Lamsac holds a concession contract with the Municipality of Lima to build, operate and maintain the 25km road, valid until November 2049.

In 2015, traffic on Lamsac averaged 134,000 vehicles a day, a frequency that is due to increase following the completion of a section that is presently under construction.

The transaction will be finalised in the second half of 2016, once the required approvals have been obtained.

The deal is part of Vinci’s strategy of expansion in an area that it believes to have strong growth potential; Peru’s economy has expanded by more than 6% over the past 10 years

Vinci has recently won contracts in Jamaica and Egypt.
