An Italian consortium of Webuild, Eteria Consorzio Stabile, Costruire, ICM, and MN Metropolitana di Napoli has landed a €660m contract for the first lot of a contract on Naples metro Line 10.
The team’s scope of work includes executive design and construction of civil works on Phase 1A of Line 10, for 6.5km of railway across Afragola, Casoria, Casavatore and Naples municipalities. Construction is due to create up to 700 direct and indirect jobs.
Three stations will be built – at Di Vittorio, Casoria Centro and Afragola – while four stations will be partially constructed at Casavatore San Pietro, Casoria Casavatore, Casoria Afragola, Afragola Garibaldi.
The full 14km-long Line 10 metro line will be carried out across multiple stages, running almost entirely underground from Naples-Afragola station to Principe Umberto station.
Webuild has already built the Naples-Afragola high-speed station, which will become a hub linking northern and southern Italy.
The team has the exclusive right to execute additional works – pending financing – up to a total value of more than €1.7bn for the future completion of the line.

Completion of Line 10 involves an additional 7.3km of track and five stations, including completion of the four stations partially built in Phase 1A.
The stations are up to 45m deep, with tunnels of 8.6m internal diameter.
