Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) has designed the masterplan for Khalid Bin Sultan City, which is being developed in Sharjah, UAE by BEEAH Group.

The city will have seven residential neighbourhoods arranged around a public space, with a 2km-long shaded oasis, “incubator” spaces for creatives and cultural venues.

Homes will be within walking distance of amenities.

The oasis has been designed as an unfurling garden, gradually offering glimpses to visitors exploring the landscape. It will have sheltered running and cycling tracks, sculpture gardens, courtyards, ponds, cafés and restaurants.

The city has been designed around pedestrian pathways, sheltered by Sharjah’s native trees and plants and recessed façades.

The city is located close to Sharjah’s business, shopping and entertainment areas.
