Bam buys wooden facade producers to strengthen prefab muscle

Dutch contractor Royal Bam Group has acquired all the shares of prefabricated wooden facade makers Houtindustrie Stam & Landman (HSL) and Gevelelementen Noord-Holland (GNH) for an undisclosed price.

HSL and GNH have an annual turnover of €20m, employ 100 staff and have worked with Bam for 25 years.

Bam said the acquisition would allow it to use offsite construction to respond more quickly to demand for affordable homes.

Ruud Joosten, Royal Bam Group’s chief executive, said: "Further integrating the prefabricated modules in our innovative design and construction processes enables us to scale up our sustainable solutions more quickly to meet the wishes of clients and residents.

"The acquisition of our trusted partners HSL and GNH is part of the strategy that BAM has set out for the coming years. This step allows us to leverage our expertise in sustainability, digitisation, modular and industrial construction activities.

Edward Zandbergen, HSL’s managing director, said: "This transaction offers our company and employees the opportunity to develop further because Bam operates in a number of geographies and wants to further grow its leading position in the Dutch housing market."
