The Thai subsidiary of France’s Bouygues Construction has been selected to build the 239m-tall, 56-floor Once Wongamat tower in Pattaya for developer Honour Thailand.
The 60,000-sq-m scheme will have 548 luxury apartments, five retail areas, co-working spaces, multiple swimming pools, a spa, sauna, yoga studio, open air cinema, cafes and a golf simulator.
Bouygues said the low-carbon concrete structure presents technical challenges, including building a cantilevered swimming pool.
Logistical challenges include restrictions on work after 6pm and getting materials to the site in the busy downtown, for which the team will use digital management tools.
Up to 700 workers will be on site at peak construction.
Foundation work is being carried out by Bouygues and Siam Tone Co, which includes removing rock coring.
The project has been designed by Thai architectural firm D103i.
Philippe Jouy, Bouygues Construction’s deputy chief executive, said his firm would bring high-rise expertise to the project, including its work on Mahanakhon Tower in Bangkok.
Construction is due to be completed in 2029.
