Dallas-based engineer Aecom has been selected by US chemical company Chemours to expand a green hydrogen facility in the Villers-Saint Paul (VSP) region of northern France.

Work at Chemours VSP will increase the capacity of the company’s Nafion Ion Exchange system, which makes a component for electrolysers.

Three of Aecom’s French sub-businesses: environment, engineering and construction management, will work on the project.

Aecom has previously undertaken project management services for Chemours in the US.

Colin Wood, Aecom’s Europe and India chief executive, said: “Enabling facilities to produce green hydrogen is central to decarbonisation efforts and to enabling the clean energy transition.

“Our track record of delivering large-scale project management services internationally, as well as our extensive sector expertise, will help ensure the successful delivery of Chemours VSP.”
