Aussie prefab wall-maker targets UK

A new Australian maker of prefabricated wall systems plans to develop a factory in the UK, claiming interest from some UK property developers.

The firm, Pro9 Global, currently has a factory in Bosnia, but is eyeing the UK after signing an agreement with developer, Pigeon, to supply prefabricated structural wall systems for show homes.

The company’s Bosnian plant shipped its first wall systems to Australia in October last year.

It is trying to raise £6.48m to build its first plant in Australia.

"Pro9 Global has developed a range of precision engineered wall systems that are energy-efficient, fireproof, cost-competitive and fast to install," said Pigeon Director, Richard Stanton, in a press release today.

Pro9 Global managing director and founder Daniel Jukic said the partnership with Pigeon would help establish a presence in the UK, with a team working on specifications for a plant in East Anglia.

"Pro9 Global’s prefabricated building systems could provide a cost-effective solution to the UK housing market’s growing pains; our Structural Wall Systems can be installed within 48 hours – about 30% faster and at least 20% cheaper than traditional builds," said Jukic.

The company said it has invested £10.8m so far in the design, engineering and testing of its structural wall systems.
