Case gets on TV for cleaning beach at “most polluted river in Europe”

Case Construction Equipment has featured in a television programme exploring environmental crises in Italy.

One of its 821G wheel loaders was drafted in to scoop up garbage on a beach at the mouth of the Sarno river in Rovigliano.

Called the most polluted river in Europe, the Sarno deposits bottles, plastic and all manner of waste onto the beach, rendering it unusable until now.

Channel Rai 2 broadcast the series, called "La Natura che parla" ("Nature Speaks").

Presenter Luigi Pelazza travelled all over the country, including to Italy’s alpine glaciers, which are under threat of disappearing, asking why such crises are happening.

The wheel loader made its appearance in the eighth episode of the show, sifting the beach’s black sand with a three-cubic metre skeleton bucket.

Volunteers were on hand to dispose of the waste.

"Providing volunteers with a machine to give back to nature and restore such a special volcanic beach has been both an honour for us and something we owe to future generations," said Nicola D’Arpino, vice president of sales and marketing, CNH Industrial Construction Europe, a Case brand.

CNH Industrial has been named Industry Leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, World and Europe, for nine years running.
