Cimic wins $2.8bn hospital expansion scheme in Hong Kong

A joint venture between Cimic subsidiary Leighton Asia and China Railway First Group has been selected by the Hong Kong Hospital Authority for a US$2.8bn expansion of North District Hospital (NDH).

The team will construct a 20-storey acute block, with 1,500 beds spread over 380,000 sq m. The contract is worth $1.6bn for Leighton Asia.

Juan Santamaria, Cimic Group’s executive chairman, said: “We are proud to bring our experience in delivering health facilities and our ‘hospital-first’ approach to this project, which puts the needs of health workers, patients and community at the forefront.”

Brad Davey, Leighton Asia’s managing director, added: “Our extensive experience in healthcare construction, combined with our deep understanding of local and international standards, uniquely equips us to deliver this state-of-the-art facility.”
