Sixteen people were taken to hospital last week after two cranes collided and became entangled at a large, commercial construction site in Austin, Texas.
In all, 22 people were affected in the 16 September crash, with none of the injuries classed as life-threatening, said Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, which despatched multiple teams to the site.
The project is a six-storey, class-A office development and parking garage being built by Cadence McShane Construction in Austin’s Mueller Business District for developers Shorenstein Properties and Catellus.
It took crews a number of hours to disentangle the cranes, said reports.
"Thankfully, there have been no life-threatening injuries, but we are investigating the incident with the Authorities Having Jurisdiction," Cadence McShane Construction said in a statement issued to CBS Austin.
"We are in close contact with our subcontractors, local authorities, and our on-site team to better understand what transpired. More importantly, we are working with the crane subcontractor and the fire department to ensure the damaged crane is safely dismantled. Since this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot provide additional details at this time."
