Aaron Hennessy FCIOB CEnv, the managing director of Douglas OHI, has been appointed the chair of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)’s Oman Hub.

Douglas OHI leads major projects in the oil and gas, industrial, infrastructure, and hospitality and tourism sectors in Oman, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

As chair, Hennessy will focus on fostering deeper industry collaboration, upholding high professional standards, nurturing emerging talent and accelerating the adoption of innovative and sustainable construction practices.

He said the Hub will act as a platform to facilitate knowledge exchange, networking, talent development and industry collaboration, aiming to shape a future-ready construction sector that contributes to Oman’s long-term prosperity and sustainable development.

In January, Douglas OHI became the first company in Oman to be recognised as a Chartered Company by the CIOB.

Hennessy succeeds Wade Kilian MCIOB who strengthened the hub across the country.

Hennessy’s appointment coincides with Oman’s Sultanate accelerating Vision 2040, a programme of infrastructure development, industrial growth and economic diversification from oil.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Chair of the CIOB Oman Hub. The construction industry in Oman is entering an exciting new chapter,” he said.

“My priority will be to strengthen professionalism, champion innovation, and develop the next generation of leaders who will deliver a resilient, sustainable, and world-class built environment. I look forward to working hand-in-hand with members, partners, educators, and stakeholders to elevate standards and unlock the sector’s full potential.”

Matt Doran, the CIOB’s senior regional manager for the middle east, north Africa and south Asia, said: “Aaron is a dynamic and respected leader who brings both deep industry insight and genuine energy to this role.

“His track record of driving operational excellence, sustainability, and people development makes him ideally placed to lead the CIOB Oman Hub into its next phase.

“We are excited to partner with him as we continue advancing the construction profession across Oman and the wider region.”
