Dubai plans to build a sustainable ‘Perfect City’

The real estate sector of Dubai’s government has announced plans to build the world’s first property-related city.

The design is reminiscent of two previous government-funded projects, Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, which were intended to act as hubs for particular industries. This development will collect all real estate-related businesses in a single area.

The "Perfect City" development will contain a 500m canal, 20,000 trees and 75% of it will be made up of green space. It will be fully sustainable and will contribute to reducing levels of carbon dioxide. A statement said that the project provides a "comprehensive system of sustainable real estate solutions".

The development will include new headquarters buildings for the Dubai Land Department and its Real Estate Regulatory Agency branch.

It will also contain a Real Estate court, university and museum, a sustainability centre, Emirates Real Estate Solutions and the Real Estate World Centre.

Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, director general of the Dubai Land Department, said "This unique initiative showcases a quantum leap forward in the concept of sustainable real estate developments. New projects like this set the pace for Dubai’s continued evolution as the world’s foremost innovative property sector."
