The German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce and non-profit business network Norwegian Offshore Wind have teamed up to boost developments in the rapidly expanding North Sea market.
The agreement arrives on the heels of the North Sea Summit in Hamburg, where energy ministers from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK committed to delivering 300GW of offshore wind capacity in the North Sea by 2050, a third of which is dedicated to cross-border projects.
The working group will be an expansion of the German-Norwegian Chamber’s bilateral offshore wind team established in 2022 to bring together policymakers and industry experts across the two countries.
The group will focus on addressing regulatory and market barriers, strengthening supply chain integration and growing cross-border knowledge.
Michael Kern, German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce chief executive, said: “By joining forces, we can involve more actors across the value chain and identify new opportunities for collaboration. This partnership will contribute to building a more integrated, resilient and competitive offshore wind ecosystem.”
Arvid Nesse, Norwegian Offshore Wind chief executive, said: “By combining German market scale and demand with Norwegian offshore competence, the working group aims to stimulate new opportunities for companies in both countries and contribute to making the North Sea Europe’s leading green energy hub.”
