Hochtief has won the contract to refurbish four 1950s office towers in Berlin that are protected as a historical monument.
The client is the federal state of Berlin, which uses the buildings for administration.
Valued at around €90m, the contract involves the extensive refurbishment of an 18-storey tower and three interconnected six-storey buildings.
The aim is to upgrade the buildings to the latest safety and energy standards.
Construction unit Hochtief Infrastructure Building will execute the project as total construction manager.
"Hochtief has extensive experience in the careful redesign of historical buildings," said Thilo Warlich, manager of the Berlin branch of Hochtief Infrastructure Building.
He said Hochtief would bring in its technical know-how as early as possible in the planning phase.
Work began this month and is scheduled for completion in spring 2023.
The state of Berlin will occupy the administrative buildings again from mid-2023.
