Leighton Asia wins $103m Philippines toll road project

Leighton Asia, a subsidiary of Australia’s CIMIC, has won a US$103m contract to build a toll road in the Philippines.

The firm was chosen by the NLEX Corporation to construct part of the North Luzon Expressway.

Work on the project includes a 2.6km dual, elevated tollway to link the existing NLEX Segment 10 Road to the R10 Road and a continuation of the Harbour Link.

Juan Santamaria, Leighton Asia managing director, said: "We are pleased to continue to deliver critical infrastructure developments in the Philippines, bringing a collaborative approach with our clients to achieve innovative and cost-efficient project solutions."

Early works on the project have begun, and the development is due to be operational in late 2019.

Leighton Asia has been involved in NLEX development since the first phase of construction in 1998.
