Nashville Airport awards $327m design-and-build contract for renovation

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has chosen Colorado firms Hensel Phelps Construction and Fentress Architects as the design-and-build team for a 440,000 sq ft renovation of Nashville International Airport.

The $327m contract includes the expansion of the central lobby and a new international arrivals area.

The terminal lobby renovation will introduce a roof canopy extending from the terminal garage to international arrivals, and a pedestrian bridge will connect the central core with the garage plaza and administration building.

A central core will be added to simplify domestic and international inbound and outbound movement.

Work on the project is due to be completed by 2023.

The contract is the final part of the BNA Vision project, set up to cater to growing passenger traffic at the airport.

Dexter Samuels, BNA Board of Commissioners chair, said: "When complete, this project will provide travelers an expanded and visually engaging terminal lobby as well as a state-of-the-art International Arrivals Facility to accommodate future international flights.

"From a design perspective, we think this will be the most transformative undertaking in the history of this airport."
