Spanish developer Neinor Homes will invest €30m in building two towers in the Basque Country with a combined 135 affordable apartments.

They’ll go up in the growing Zabalgana district of the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, some 65km south of Bilbao in north-eastern Spain.

‘Zabalgana Homes’ consists of two towers, 13 and 14 floors respectively, with two- and three-bedroom apartments.

The development represents 10% of the existing supply of subsidised housing for sale in 2022 in the region, the company said.

The project will generate more than 300 construction jobs. Construction is expected to start at the end of this year.

Last year, Neinor built 204 affordable units across the Madrid region, Guadalajara and Barcelona.

The company currently has 1,126 subsidised housing developments in various production stages, of which 460 homes are already under construction.

It said Zabalgana Homes would have a ventilated front facade to reduce energy demand.
