Samsung wins $604m Singapore rail contract

Samsung’s construction and trade arm has been awarded a $604m contract by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) for work on the Hougang interchange and the Cross Island Line.

Samsung C&T’s scope of work includes design and construction of the Hougang interchange station and tunnels, and addition and alteration works to the existing Hougang station along the North East Line.

Construction on Hougang station is due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will open to the public in 2030.

The Cross Island Line will be Singapore’s eighth Mass Rapid Transit line. It will link Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region.
