Schipol selects all-Dutch team for contracts worth €2.5bn

Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport has selected three Dutch firms, BAM, Heijmans and VolkerWessels, to maintain its infrastructure over the next nine years. The work is estimated to have a value of between €2.5bn to €3.5bn.

The three will work on six packages, divided up as follows:

  • Lot 1 Start and landing areas: Heijmans Infra
  • Lot 2 Airplane parking: a joint venture between VolkerWessels’ KWS Infra and VolkerRail Nederland
  • Lot 3 Landside infrastructure: BAM Infra
  • Lot 4 Underground infrastructure: BAM Infra
  • Lot 5a Terminal 1 & 2: Heijmans Utiliteit
  • Lot 5b Terminal 3 & Schiphol Plaza: BAM Bouw en Techniek

Schipol and the companies have developed the plan over the past few months, focusing on "sustainability, optimal return on assets, organisation, innovation and digitalisation", according to a press release from the airport.

BAM estimates that its annual turnover from the contract will be €100m, and that total turnover could be €900m.

Katja Severin, BAM strategic partnership manager, said: "The transformation that we want to achieve together with Schiphol is characterised by the pursuit of a collaboration in which we no longer want to think in terms of ‘client-contractor’ but in terms of ‘partners’."

The contracts will start on 1 April.
