Canadian engineering giant SNC-Lavalin has won two district cooling contracts in Saudi Arabia with a combined value of approximately CAN$71m.Â
The first is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract awarded by the Saudi Dhahran Cooling Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed, to expand the district cooling facilities of their Aramco District Cooling Plant in Dhahran. The contract is estimated at $30.6m.
SNC-Lavalin will be responsible for delivering an additional cooling capacity of 5,000 refrigeration tons (RT), with all associated equipment, energy transfer stations and chilled water networks-to achieve a total cooling capacity of 32,000 RT.
The second is an EPC contract by the Central District Cooling Company, also a subsidiary of Saudi Tabreed, for the expansion of its Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC) district cooling scheme in Mecca. The contract is estimated at $40.2m.
Here SNC-Lavalin will deliver additional cooling capacity of 10,000 RT to achieve a total cooling capacity of 35,000 RT.
The company says it has 6,000 staff in Saudi Arabia.
