Irish builder Sisk has been named construction manager for a €330m drugs factory in County Kerry, Ireland, for Japan’s Astellas Pharma.

Astellas announced plans to build a 7,300-sq-m, three-storey factory on a 45-acre site at the Kerry Technology Park in Tralee last September.

In December that year, Kerry County Council granted a ten-year planning permission to build it.

Construction will create 600 jobs, Sisk said, with 100 science, engineering and technology roles available when the facility becomes operational, estimated to be in the third quarter of 2027.

Louis Collins, Astellas’ executive director of operations in Kerry, said: “This marks an important milestone in our commitment to expanding our production capacity and capabilities.”
