The US arm of Sweden’s Skanska has set up “Skanska Advanced Technology”, or SAT, a new division to meet demand for data centres and semiconductor facilities.

Its 285 people will offer simplified construction modelling and manufacturing for high-tech projects.

Anita Nelson, previously Skanska USA Building’s chief executive, will be SAT’s executive officer. Katie Coulson will be its executive vice president and general manager.

Skanska said AI and edge computing would see the US data centre construction market grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.2% from 2025 to 2030, while the semiconductor cleanroom construction CAGR would be 3.8% from 2025 to 2034.

Nelson said: “SAT combines technical specialisation with mobility and national coverage to deliver industry-leading innovation, data-driven insights and expertise to enhance the customer experience and project outcomes.”
