A 91-storey, 335m Trump Tower in Queensland’s Surfers Paradise is set to become Australia’s tallest building, according to local developer Altus.
The project comprises a 6-star resort-hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean, 270 apartments costed at A$5m each, penthouses that are yet to be priced, and a five-floor, 3,400-sq-m commercial and retail space at its base.
It will be the first Trump-branded project in Australia and approximately 12m taller than Queensland’s Q1 Tower, which was completed in 2005 and is currently the country’s tallest structure.
Altus says it will create 500 construction jobs and 500 permanent jobs when the building is operational.
Altus said the development, called Trump International Hotel & Tower Gold Coast, would not be “gaudy gold-plated”, but would follow a modern design manual already used on under-construction properties in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. There are 139 Trump resorts and towers worldwide.
Construction is due to begin this year.
