UK headquartered consultant Turner & Townsend has been appointed to support the construction of 15 new modular school buildings in Hamburg, Germany.
It will provide project and cost management as well as guidance in using offsite technologies to deliver the buildings in 15 months.
The appointment by schools estate management company, SBH | Schulbau Hamburg, follows a successful pilot modular school project.
Hamburg needs to expand more than 120 schools in the coming years.
The company worked with SBH | Schulbau Hamburg to develop a repeatable blueprint for schools, which will guide the larger building programme.
Turner & Townsend said the programme might be extended to 36 buildings delivered by 2023.
The blueprint is based around the schools having a fixed central core encompassing key facilities, surrounded by flexible and adaptable space to allow for the bespoke requirements of each school.
