A consortium of Italy’s Webuild and Vianini Lavori has won a €776m design and build contract for the T1 section of the Rome Metro, which will connect Clodio/Mazzini to Farnesina stations in the north of the city.
In May 2025, the joint venture won another contract on Line C to build a 4km extension with four new stations for €2bn. The two sections will be integrated.
The T1 contract allows for uninterrupted mechanised excavation from Farnesina to Piazza Venezia.
The completed Line C will stretch for 29km with 31 stations running from the eastern terminus at Monte Compatri/Pantano to Farnesina.
24 stations have been built on the line, extending from Rome’s centre east to the terminal at Colosseo/Fori Imperiali.
