Aecom lands place on Perth road job

Aecom’s Australian subsidiary is part of a consortium awarded a contract to improve access to Australia’s fast-growing Perth Airport.

The consortium has formed an alliance with Main Roads Western Australia to deliver the state’s largest road project, the Gateway WA, which has a construction value of US$1.05bn.

The alliance includes design partners GHD and BG&E, and construction partners Leighton Contractors and Georgiou Group. Aecom’s contribution as design partner is expected to generate revenue in excess of $10m.

The project will upgrade the Tonkin and Leach highways, and will include the construction of five new interchanges to create landmark road infrastructure around Perth Airport as well as surrounding industrial and freight hubs.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin later this year and is expected to be completed by 2017, ahead of the planned consolidation of Perth Airport’s domestic and international terminals during 2018.
