Bouygues to build PV power plants in Thailand

26 April 2013

Bouygues Construction subsidiaries, Bouygues Thai and Bouygues Energies & Services, have signed a contract worth around $50m to design, build and maintain three photovoltaic power plants in Tak and Sukhothai provinces of northeast Thailand.

The project depends on client Soleq Solar Thailand, an energy producer, getting the necessary financing.

Three solar farms will be equipped with more than 100,000 photovoltaic panels and will deliver annual production of approximately 45 gigawatt-hours (GWh), equivalent to the annual consumption of households in a Thai city of 90,000 people.

The Thai government has set a target of meeting a quarter of the territory’s energy consumption with renewables by 2021.

The Bouygues companies will be responsible for operating and maintaining the solar farms for a period of five years.

The design and construction works, which will involve 450 people onsite at peak periods, will begin next month. Handover is scheduled for the end of 2013.

The Thai government has set a target of meeting a quarter of the territory’s energy consumption with renewables by 2021.

Bouygues is currently building several residential complexes in Thailand, as well as the country’s tallest building, which will stand 314 metres tall.
