28 June 2013

Dutch group Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has signed a contract worth $33m to construct a new section of port in St Petersburg, Russia.

The new Bronka Port will facilitate vessels carrying roll-on roll-off cargo as well as containers.

Work is due to be complete by the end of the year.

The project involves reclaiming a total volume of up to 3 million cubic metres of sand using trailer suction hopper dredgers.

Russian deputy prime minister Arkady Dvorkovich and the Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte were present at the signing which took place at St Petersbug International Economic Forum last week.

Boskalis is a global services provider in the dredging and maritime infrastructure sectors.
