Data centre developer EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure has raised $1.9bn, partly from a “green loan”, to build a facility in Mesa, southern Arizona.

The project will be part of a 3.1 million sq ft server farm cluster that has one operational centre and two under construction. When completed, it will have use up to 450MW of electricity. A closed-loop chilled water system will be used to regulate their temperature, allowing water use to be minimised.

Julie Brewer, EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure’s senior vice president of finance, said: “The development of scalable data centre campuses is EdgeCore’s sole focus, and one that we address with sustainable construction, operations and business practices in mind.”
