A consortium of BeMo Tunnelling, Hochtief and Subterra has won a €1.2bn contract to build a segment of Prague’s D metro line.
The 6km stretch will include three new underground stations and multiple tunnel sections.
Working on behalf of the Prague Public Transport Company, the €1.2bn will generate €428m for Hochtief.
Juan Santamaría, Hochtief’s chief executive, said: “Metro Line D will be critical to Prague’s future mobility, and we are proud to continue our role in delivering the city’s first fully automated metro line.”
Construction is due to begin shortly and be completed in 2032.
A team featuring Hochtief and Subterra previously won a contract for the first section of metro D between Pankrác and Olbrachtova stations. This phase is due to be completed in 2029.
Earlier this year, objections to the Hochtief team’s selection raised by Austrian company Strabag were dismissed by the Czech Republic’s Office for the Protection of Competition.
