Peab to renovate three Helsinki apartment blocks

Helsinki (Hauhu/Dreamstime)
Swedish builder Peab has landed a €22m turnkey contract to renovate 210 rental flats in three high-rise blocks built between 1968 and 1969 in northeast Helsinki.

Construction will begin in February and is due to be completed in November 2024 on behalf of the Helsinki City Housing Company.

The buildings, which are in Jakomäki district, will be brought up to modern standards and a solar panel system will be installed. Communal areas such as basements and saunas will also be refurbished.

Marko Rinkinen, a manager at Peab, said: “It’s great that we’ve been given this renovation project where we can take advantage of our broad expertise. This kind of project requires special planning, all round know-how and collaboration among craftsmen with different skills.”
