Rooftop working in Skanska’s new Malmö office block

Skanska’s visualisation of its “Oas” building now under construction
Skanska is investing about $38.5m (SEK 350m) in a building a sustainable office project on Universitetsholmen in central Malmö, Sweden. The office building, “Oas”, comprises seven floors and will have a leasable area of approximately 7,500 sq m.

Skanska said each office tenant will have their own balcony and access to a common roof terrace adapted for outdoor work. On the entrance level there will be rooms for public activities as well as bicycle hotels, showers and changing rooms to facilitate sustainable travel.

The building is designed to to be certified according to the Well health standard as well as LEED Platinum for sustainability.

Oas has the ambition to be certified according to NollCo2, with the goal of achieving a net-zero climate impact during its lifetime.

Construction work has begun and is planned to be completed during the first quarter of 2024.

Oas is part of Skanska’s development of Citadellsstaden on Universitetsholmen, next to the canal and with Malmö Central Station within walking distance. In the area, Skanska has previously developed the Aura and Aqua office projects as well as housing and a preschool.
