Skanska has signed an agreement with the Kalmar County Region, Sweden, to build a new psychiatric clinic at Västervik Hospital. The contract is worth about $99m (SEK 915 million), which is included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the first quarter of 2022.

The new building will house forensic psychiatry, round-the-clock care and open adult psychiatry and covers approximately 24,500 sq m over six floors.

The project will be carried out as a partnering arrangement with the county and other partners. In its preparatory phase, Skanska has been working on the design of the building and its calculated target cost for the project. The agreement just concluded concerns the construction phase.

Work is planned to begin at the end of February and the building is scheduled to be ready for use during the second quarter of 2025.
